Infographic: Global migration trends, a work in 3D (2010)

In 2010, I was part of Sticks + Stones, an international design collaboration between universities in the United States, China, Germany, and Turkey. We put together an exhibit in Berlin that invited visitors to contemplate the roles of stereotyping, migration, and immigration in their lives.

One of the projects I contributed is a 3D infographic about directionality in global migration patterns among the four participating countries. The project was a collaboration with designer Christie Liberatore and was featured in the Coroflot design community.

By the way, Sticks + Stones won a Core 77 design award. Check it out!

    Motivation and the startup

I’m noticing a few interesting things about myself while working on twords. I’m incredibly motivated by building things that solve problems for people I care about. My favorite little improvements all came from talking to Joe and the kind friends who send me suggestions. I solve their problems, I get a boost of happiness. Easy…. [Continue Reading]

    Testimonial from Community Ladders

What problems did I help you solve? Anna is a top notch graphic designer, and I very much appreciate how rare that actually is in a very crowded field. But what makes Anna truly special is that she is a storyteller. She uses graphics, colors, and spatial arrangements to convey meaning in ways I never would… [Continue Reading]

    Hello, LetterCult!

As I previously mentioned, I’m trying to get my type skills in order. I know that practice is the only way to get good at something, so I’m forcing discipline through submissions to compilations such as the Alphabattle on LetterCult. Today they posted my first submission! The idea is that participants submit interpretations of a… [Continue Reading]

    The unexceptional.

This is a typographic exercise I did about six months ago while still at Bussolati. A great quote from Robert California from The Office (the current season of which I have not watched at all, I’m sad to say). “There’s something about the underdog that really inspires the unexceptional.” Exercise was inspired by Jessica Hische’s… [Continue Reading]

    Testimonial from a wedding client

What did I help you with? I was looking to work with a designer to create Save the Dates and invitations for our wedding. We met with Anna in order to discuss our wants, needs and our budget constraints. She listened, helped us gather ideas and produced a wonderful Save the Date, Party Invitation and… [Continue Reading]
