Aerie Shimmer eau de toilette

Aerie Shimmer eau de toilette packaging inspiration || 2lch

Can you believe this is a perfume sample?

This was such a fun little package to hold–reminded me of this one type of candy I’d get sometimes as a kid.

However, I need to point out a few things:

  • As much as I loved the package, I’m not sure how it fits with the rest of the brand. Yes, the foil is shimmery as per the name of the perfume, but it also screams “candy”–no other marketing materials for this product communicate that. It’s a bit strange.
  • The packaging makes you want to untwist that foil much like you’d do with a piece of candy. But you should never, ever treat perfume samples like that. I twisted both ends of the foil by reflex, not thinking about what I’m doing, which made the vial inside fall out and shatter all over the floor. So, uh, I have no idea if this is even a nice perfume to wear. Obviously it’s my fault for not thinking it through, but I’m a bit sad that the fun candy packaging tricked me into a very stupid product-handling experience.
